Basic Rules - How to Play

Basic Rules - Change Over

Basic Rules - Summary

Note: During the short video we talk about walking back 5 meters. The rule has now changed to 7 meters!

Summary of 8 Basic Rules:

  1. There are six players on the field at a time per team. However, a maximum of 14 players can play in the team, with unlimited substitutions.
  2. You may only pass backwards or flat.
  3. If you have been touched with the ball, put (dump) the ball where you have been touched and step over the ball.
  4. The person that picks up the ball, also known as the 'Dummy Half'. Must try to pass quickly, because he or she is not allowed to be touched or score. If they do, it is a 'Change Over' (the ball goes to the other team).
  5. The team that defends and therefore makes the Touch must go back seven meters before they can Touch a player again to defend.
  6. After 6 Touches made by the defense, there is a Change Over.
  7. The ball may not fall to the ground. If that does happen, it is a Change Over.
  8. You are not allowed to pass the ball after you have been touched (Touch and Pass). If that does happen, then it is a Change Over.
