Touch Rugby is Gaining Ground – A July Full of Clinics and Enthusiastic Participants

For us, July was all about introducing Touch Rugby to a wide and diverse audience. With clinics at schools, companies, and a major sports event, we had the opportunity to show what makes Touch Rugby so unique. And that’s exactly what we aim for: to raise awareness for this accessible, tactical, and above all fun sport in the Netherlands.
Touch Rugby is still relatively new in our country, but we believe it deserves a permanent place – both on and off the field. Without physical contact, but full of speed, teamwork, and strategic play, it’s the perfect team sport for all ages. And that clearly showed again this past month.
Companies in motion
We kicked things off with a clinic at TenneT, where we introduced the sport to a group of employees. After a short presentation, we moved on to practical exercises and wrapped up with a friendly tournament. Some already had a sporting background, others were surprised by how dynamic and enjoyable the game is. What they all had in common? A great dose of enthusiasm and fun. The reactions afterward were genuinely heartwarming.
Schools join in
The students of the Oranje Nassau School also got a chance to experience Touch Rugby. During their sports day, they played short, fast-paced games focused on ball skills and collaboration. The level of engagement was high – especially after they found out that some of the coaches were members of the Dutch National Touch Rugby Team. The PE teacher was so enthusiastic that he and his son immediately joined a training session and now wants to permanently integrate the sport into the school’s program. That’s exactly why we do this.
A sport for everyone
At the Haagse Sportzomer Festival, children and young people could play Touch Rugby all afternoon. It was a fantastic opportunity to share the sport with a large, diverse audience. Once again, it became clear just how accessible and appealing Touch is to participants of all ages and experience levels..
Growing touch rugby together
Each clinic had its own structure, audience, and atmosphere, but the enthusiasm was the common thread throughout. The sport brings people together, is safe yet challenging, and fits seamlessly into sports days, team outings, or corporate clinics.
